An excellent piece of investigative journalism, headlined ‘The smoking gun: how cigarettes became the IRA’s new weapon’, was published in the Sunday Times magazine.
The report shows that cigarette smuggling, fuel laundering and other racketeering, masterminded from and centred on the Sinn Fein heartland of south Armagh/north Louth is costing the UK taxpayer £2 billion per year (Much more than policing Twaddell Avenue for example).
The detailed report shows that PIRA terrorists (‘Believed to have gone away you know’) as well the new “flag of convenience dissident IRA groupings” are behind this.
