NIAGARA – Regional politicians want to see a local ability to curb the presence of contraband cigarettes in Niagara.
During a public health committee meeting on Tuesday, a report on the province’s new legislation that prohibits tobacco products from being sold on post-secondary campuses was brought forward.
This sparked a conversation on contraband cigarettes and how they are considered a problem in the region.
Local agencies do not have the authority to seize contraband cigarettes.
