Operation ‘Checkmate’ targets suspected gang members, felons

A retired Assistant Director of the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms recently explained that illicit cigarettes are “being sold in the bodegas, in the convenience stores, they’re being sold on the street, they’re being sold in the housing projects,” Marianos said, “by street gangs like the Latin Kings, terrorist organizations, the Russian Mafia.”

PALM BEACH COUNTY, Fla. – Dozens of suspected Palm Beach County gang members are behind bars.
Palm Beach County Sheriff Ric Bradshaw announced 38 out of 42 suspects were arrested in Operation Checkmate targeting gangs, guns and drugs.   Federal indictments targeted gang members from ‘Top 6’, ‘Sur-13’ and ‘Latin Kings,’ the sheriff’s office said.

The sheriff had a message for gang members.
