Warwickshire Trading Standards launch compaign against sale of illegal tobacco products
People buying counterfeit, cut-price cigarettes have been warned: You could end up smoking rat droppings.
The warning has come from Warwickshire Trading Standards, who have launched a campaign to crackdown on illegal and illicit tobacco, which can prove harmful in more ways than one.
A spokesman said: “According to the World Health Organisation, a tenth of all cigarettes consumed worldwide are illegal, while illicit tobacco has been found to contain asbestos, ground glass, rat and mouse droppings, dead insects, floor sweepings, dust and hay. Illegal tobacco isn’t regulated so its content and where it comes from are unknown.
