Government officials have destroyed counterfeit cigarettes worth 50 million shillings signalling the country’s intent to scale up its fight against fake products. Speaking during the 5th annual World Anti-Counterfeit Day celebrations in Mombasa, Industrialization Principal Secretary Dr. Wilson Songa said counterfeited goods are derailing the governments ease of doing business reform agenda. As Nicholas Nduati reports clearing and forwarding agencies as well as shipping companies have been warned that they would be held responsible for counterfeit goods imported into the country.
