Authorities warn of impact of buying smuggled cigarettes

Counterfeit tobacco sold on the streets of Merseyside could contain rat poison, dead flies and asbestos according to tests carried out on dodgy black market cigarettes.

The disgusting substances are among those often mixed with unregulated toxins in the production of fake cigarettes, tens of thousands of which are smuggled into the region every year.
