R’wood man allegedly dealt in death, but not taxes [NYC]

A Ridgewood man has been charged with illegally distributing untaxed cigarettes and possessing tens of thousands of counterfeit tax stamps, District Attorney Richard Brown announced Monday.

The defendant, Ayad Sharhan, 34, of Cornelia Street, allegedly would have cost the city and state nearly half a million dollars in tax revenue if he had been able to sell the cigarettes in his possession at the time of his arrest, according to Brown.
