Contraband cigarettes more dangerous

FIVE types of cigarettes seized from the black market in Brunei were found to have higher levels of cancer-causing chemicals, laboratory tests conducted in Singapore last year showed.

Hjh Mahanum Dato Hj Abu Zar, a senior translator at the Health Promotion Centre (HPC), said five contraband cigarettes seized by authorities were found with higher levels of nicotine, tar and carbon monoxide compared to regular cigarettes.
