With respect to tobacco smuggling, Willson noted that the act is indeed a major concern for the ministry, most notably on the island of Grand Bahama.

“Tobacco smuggling is a very lucrative business. It is an issue for us and also many other countries. We have some concerns … by and large our compliance is very good, but tobacco is a high taxed good, the tax is $30.00 per carton.
