Almost £1m-worth of illicit tobacco products were seized in raids by trading standards officers on more than 400 properties, including shops, across all nine regions of England .
The value of seizures in Operation Henry 2 – carried out between December 2015 and May 2016 – was 18% higher than a similar operation in 2014. In total, 42% of premises raided in the intelligence-led operation were found to be selling illegal tobacco, of which 57% were repeat offenders.
