Cigarette smuggler facing prison, $250,000 fine
BUFFALO — A Franklin County man is facing up to five years in prison after pleading guilty to possessing nearly a million contraband cigarettes.
Ira Tarbell, 44, of Hogansburg was stopped Feb. 18, 2016 by Genesee County sheriff’s deputies in Pembroke. He was driving a truck pulling a trailer loaded with more than 900,000 unstamped and untaxed cigarettes.
