(ANSAmed) – PALERMO, JUNE 6 – The suspected gang that organized crossings aboard powerboats for small groups of migrants to the coast around Trapani, Sicily, was ready to include suspects wanted by Tunisian authorities for serious crimes including links to jihadist organizations, according to Italian finance police.

Investigators reportedly discovered that five crossings were effectively carried out and monitored, thanks to the air unit of tax police, the landing of 14 migrants. Investigators also seized 100 kilos of smuggled cigarettes.
