Police Officers Seize Eight Trucks with Smuggled Cigarettes
A cargo of smuggled cigarettes from Paraguay, valued at R$15 million (US$4.56 million), was seized by border police agents in Mato Grosso do Sul. The cargo of 390,000 packs of eight different brands, divided into eight carts, was the biggest seizure of the year in the state and is equivalent to the total collected by the police in the months of October and November.
The drivers of the vehicles were carrying about R$33,000 (US$10,000) that would supposedly be used to bribe inspectors and avoid the seizure of cigarettes.
