Councils in Yorkshire and the North East have launched a joint initiative to tackle the problems caused by the sale of illicit tobacco.
The ‘Keep it out’ campaign, which coincides with National No Smoking Day on 14 March, is being delivered by North Yorkshire County Council’s trading standards team and colleagues from the North East, West Yorkshire and Hull.
The emphasis will be on raising awareness of the implications of illicit tobacco being available in the communities and encourages both smokers and non-smokers to report the sale of illicit tobacco through a confidential telephone line.
