As people become more comfortable using technology in their everyday lives, preferences for certain devices and applications often leak into the professional realm, and no less so in the public sector. But without controls and an established policy, government employee use of personal devices can have unintended consequences.

For HHS, “This starts by determining whether placing government information on personally-owned devices will be permissible in the first place,” an agency spokesperson said.
