DHS OIG identifies areas for improvement, need for additional OMB guidance in annual FISMA review

While the Homeland Security Department has made progress in strengthening its information security program, it is not fully in compliance with governmentwide requirements under the Federal Information Security Modernization Act of 2014.

One issue identified in the report was that the U.S. Coast Guard didn’t report its personal identity verification card implementation data to DHS. Instead, DHS CIO officials told auditors that the Coast Guard reported its PIV implementation to the Defense Information Systems Agency.
