FOXX TO ANNOUNCE ‘SPECIFIC ACTIONS’ ON SELF-DRIVING CARS: Transportation Secretary Anthony Foxx’s appearance in Detroit today to talk autonomous vehicles will be all the buzz among techies and auto manufacturers who for years have clamored for clues on how the government plans to regulate self-driving cars. Foxx isn’t expected to announce a formal rulemaking process today, our Heather Caygle writes. Instead, he promises to discuss “specific actions the department will take to enable and accelerate vehicle automation technologies.” That assurance has got industry insiders jazzed that DOT might be picking up the pace in terms of catching up with the breakneck speed of new automotive technology.
