White House officials describe new federal CISO’s mission, Cybersecurity National Action Plan programs

Those plans included the Cybersecurity National Action Plan, or CNAP, which mandates the implementation of a federal chief information security officer and called for a 35 percent increase across federal cybersecurity spending over last year, among other initiatives.

More routinely, the position would coordinate and set policy across the federal civilian agencies, those that fall under the Office of Management and Budget. Scott further said that the position would confer with similarly focused elements across the government, like the director of national intelligence and the national security council.
