BRUSSELS—European authorities are considering regulating the personal data of consumers using insurance and other financial products, as social media and technology ranging from the Apple Watch to fitness-tracking devices increase the amount of personal information available online.
In a bid to avoid unfair customer treatment or exploitation by insurers and lenders, the EU’s top financial watchdogs launched a three-month period to consult stakeholders and the public.
