Trump’s anti-regulatory stance sets backdrop for emerging cybersecurity policy

Cybersecurity policy – beginning with President George W. Bush and throughout the Obama administration – has been based on industry-government collaboration, with the development and widespread use of voluntary standards that were drafted amid the threat of potential regulatory mandates.

Now, President Trump is pushing a weakening of regulatory requirements that could have a resonating effect on government’s ability to solicit, or threaten, industry cooperation in a number of areas, including cybersecurity.
