McAfee CEO to Speak on Cyber Security in Eisenhower Executive Office Building

Who: Michael DeCesare, Co-President at McAfee, will deliver a speech at “Building Cybersecurity Partnerships and Promoting Voluntary Action: Stopping Botnets”, which is being hosted by White House Cybersecurity Coordinator Howard Schmidt.

What: The White House, in conjunction with the US Department of Commerce (DOC) and Department of Homeland Security (DHS), is deeply committed and currently engaged with industry leadership to convene and coordinate efforts to solving cybersecurity problems like the Botnet via a successful voluntary public-private partnership. Botnet growth increased in Q1, reaching nearly 5 million infections at its highest point, according to a recent McAfee report.

The White House event brings together US Government officials, consumer advocates and industry leaders, such as Mr. DeCesare, to announce new efforts aimed at addressing the Botnet threat, considered by experts to be one of the biggest risks to Internet security. On the consumer front, the DOC and DHS are also focusing their efforts on raising awareness among consumers whose computers that have become part of a Botnet. McAfee is also a proud member of the Industry Botnet Group (IBG), which is also working across industry and government to address the Botnet threat.
