Advisers warn against tasking NIST with new federal cybersecurity auditing role
Data privacy and security advisers to the National Institute of Standards and Technology are telling the White House Office of Management and Budget that proposals to have NIST audit the effectiveness of the federal government’s cybersecurity activities could undermine the agency’s core function of writing standards and guidelines.
