WASHINGTON, D.C. – Chairman Mike Rogers and Ranking Member C.A. Dutch Ruppersberger today announced the House Intelligence Committee will hold an open hearing to discuss advanced cyber threats facing the nation, as well as the ongoing efforts to protect our nation and our economy from these dangerous threats. The hearing will focus on the state of cyber threat information sharing between the U.S. government and private sector, as well as cyber information sharing within the private sector.

Chairman Rogers said: “American companies are under relentless attack from advanced nation state cyber threat actors, and there are significant legal and policy obstacles that prevent our companies from working with each other and the Federal Government to deal with those dangerous threats. This hearing will highlight the urgent need for Congress to pass cyber threat information sharing legislation to protect our national security, our economy and our way of life.”
Ranking Member C.A. Dutch Ruppersberger said: “Every day, American companies are coming under cyber attack, including most recently several newspapers. Countries like China and others are hacking into American companies and stealing our valuable trade secrets and our jobs, costing our country billions of dollars. The attacks are getting more brazen, serious and damaging. The threat is getting worse, not better. The time is now to pass an information sharing bill in Congress that allows business to receive the critical intelligence necessary to defend itself against these devastating attacks.”
