The Homeland Security Academic Advisory Council will meet at the Ronald Reagan Building in Washington, DC, on July 17 to hear progress reports from its six subcommittees, particularly its panel on cybersecurity.

That subcommittee may present the full Council with its draft recommendations on how to attract students, student veterans and recent graduates to cybersecurity jobs at DHS; how DHS can better promote DHS/National Security Agency (NSA) National Centers of Academic Excellence cybersecurity programs to the higher education community; and how to define the core elements of cybersecurity degrees and certificate programs, says a Federal Register notice.

The cybersecurity subcommittee might also present recommendations about how DHS can facilitate strategic partnerships with industry, national labs, colleges and universities to build the cybersecurity workforce; and how DHS can partner with academia to build a pipeline of diverse students in Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM).

Meeting materials can be seen on the Council’s Web site by clicking here.

The meeting, which will be open to the public, will take place at the Ronald Reagan International Center, 1300 Pennsylvania Ave., NW, Floor B, Room B1.5-10, from 10 am to 3 pm.
