U.S. Election Assistance Commission “in substantial compliance with FISMA requirements”

The Office of Inspector General of the U.S. Election Assistance Commission (EAC), an “independent, bipartisan commission charged with developing guidance to meet” the Help America Vote Act of 2002 requirements, has released a report on the agency’s FISMA compliance.

The OIG retained an independent certified public accounting firm to review the agency’s compliance with its FISMA responsibilities.  The report concluded that “the EAC was in substantial compliance with FISMA requirements.”  Among the report’s findings was that EAC had “established a continuous monitoring program that substantially addressed all NIST requirements.”
