Here’s why the GSA wants to build a sprawling cyber security campus

The federal government is putting together plans for a sprawling campus devoted to cyber security to be developed somewhere in the Washington, D.C., region which would bring together hundreds of industry experts under one roof.

The General Services Administration envisions a campus home to cyber experts from the Department of Homeland Security, FBI and other agencies pulled from about 630,000 square feet of mostly leased space across the region. With the federal government facing an increasing threat from cyber attacks, the campus would be designed so federal agencies and private-sector companies can better share information about those threats and how to counter them.

The agency, which oversees the federal government’s real estate needs, outlined its vision for the campus in a prospectus.
