A top Homeland Security Department official on Tuesday urged the financial services industry to have more “personal skin in the game” if it is serious about fighting cyber security attacks.
Speaking at a POLITICO Pro Financial Services event in Washington, Larry Zelvin, director of the National Cybersecurity and Communications Integration Center (NCCIC) at DHS, said there seems to be a perception among some in the industry that “you can buy things to make this go away.”
Zelvin said financial institutions need to have employees dedicated to cybersecurity and not take the approach that the task can be completely outsourced.
