The Energy Department has made some improvements to the security of its networks and systems in the last year but major deficiencies still exist, most of which could be fixed by simply adhering to the agency’s cybersecurity policies, according to an Inspector General report.
The IG reviewed 24 unclassified systems within the department, including headquarters. Energy had successfully resolved 25 of 39 security flaws identified in the 2013 report, however 14 deficiencies remained and an additional 11 were discovered during the 2014 review.
