Richard Danzig, vice chairman of the global security think tank RAND Corporation and a former secretary of the United States Navy, says it is time to incorporate analog systems into cybersecurity.
Speaking as North Korea was accused by the US government of driving a cyber attack on Sony Entertainment Pictures, Danzig said threats to the US were so prevalent that “we could declare war based on what nations are doing to us now.” However, most nationstates did not aim to destroy the US through cyberwar, he told Fairfax Media.
In a broad discussion on cybersecurity issues, Danzig added government attitudes required a reboot because policymakers did not grasp the importance of critical IT and technology issues.
