USITC seeking information to support investigation of how EU trade restrictions effect exports of U.S. small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs)
On July 30, 2013, the United States International Trade Commission (USITC) published a Federal Register notice notifying SMEs that the USITC is seeking information for a report that will identify trade-related barriers that U.S. SMEs perceive as disproportionately (compared to large firms) affecting their exports to the European Union (EU).
The investigation was requested by the U.S. Trade Representative (USTR) in a letter received on June 18, 2013 and is called Trade Barriers that U.S. Small and Medium-Sized Enterprises Perceive as Affecting Exports to the European Union.
USITC is inviting written and oral submissions to assist U.S. negotiators attain broad input from SMEs as part of the domestic consultation process to support negotiations related to the Transatlantic Trade and Investment Partnership (TTIP). All Commission offices, including the Commission’s hearing rooms are located in the U.S. International Trade Commission Building, 500 E Street SW, Washington, D.C. 20436. All written submissions should be addressed to the Secretary, U.S. International Trade Commission, 500 E Street SW, Washington, D.C. 20436.
Deadline for filing requests to appear at the public hearing: September 13, 2013.
Deadline for filing pre-hearing briefs and statements: September 20, 2103.
Public Hearing: 9:30 a.m. on October 8, 2013
Deadline for filing post-hearing briefs and all other statements: October 15, 2013.
Transmittal of Commission’s report to the USTR: January 31, 2014.
