EPA Seeks Comment on AEGL Exposure Levels

On April 16, 2008, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency announced that the National Advisory Committee for Acute Exposure Guideline Levels (AEGLs) for Hazardous Substances had proposed AEGL values for 62 chemicals. The proposed AEGL values are available for public review and comment.

The proposed AEGLs are intended for use by Federal, State, and Local agencies and organizations in the private sector concerned with chemical emergency planning, prevention, and response. EPA intends to have the AEGLs peer reviewed by a subcommittee of the National Academies (NAS).

EPA requests public comment on the AEGLs by May 16, 2008.
