FWS Withdraws Mitigation Policies
The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service has announced that it is withdrawing the Mitigation Policy published November 21, 2016, which guided Service recommendations on mitigating the adverse impacts of land and water developments on fish, wildlife, plants, and their habitats.

  • FWS has also announced it is withdrawing the Endangered Species Act Compensatory Mitigation Policy, published December 27, 2017, because the Service does not have authority to require ''net conservation gain'' under the ESA, and the policy is inconsistent with current Executive branch policy.
