EPA Proposes Additional Human Testing Rules
On January 19, 2017, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agencyacting in concert with otheragencies, promulgated revisions to the "Common Rule.'' These revisions will go into effect onJanuary 21, 2019. In addition to the coreprotections found in the Common Rule,EPA has promulgated regulations thatare specific to research involving humansubjects conducted or sponsored by EPAor submitted to EPA for regulatorypurposes. The revisions to the Common Rule create a discrepancy within some of these EPA-specific regulations. EPA seeks comment on proposed rules that harmonize theEPA-specific regulations with revisionsto the Common Rule in order to resolvethose discrepancies.
